Airport and Airplane Safety Tips

Times have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic affecting just about every sector of every economy. The airline industry is one of the markets that have been hit hard due to travel restrictions. With more countries opening up, flights have resumed with strict measures to ensure everyone is as safe as possible when travelling.

As you travel, it is vital to consider adhering to as many safety options as possible. This is important to both keep yourself safe and others from any harm when travelling. The following are some safety tips you can use next time you hop on an aeroplane or visit the airport.

Face Masks and Shields

The use of facemasks is almost normal now as it is becoming essential is just about everywhere we go. When travelling with hundreds of people in an aeroplane, it is only logical to have some face-covering even if it is not mandatory from the airline.

Using a face shield is an excellent example of a safe way to protect yourself and everyone you are travelling with. If having a huge plastic device around your face for hours doesn’t sound like something you can cope with, you can also try wearing glasses.

Using glasses with a facemask is also a safe way to travel. Remember to use glasses that are recommended for safety and use them throughout your flight.

Sanitisers

Without a doubt that you are going through the airport to your aeroplane, you will find yourself touching surfaces. It is unavoidable, but it is still essential to be as safe as possible. Carrying hand sanitizers should be part of your bucket list on the items you will always have with you at hand.

Hand sanitisers are the best way to maintain hand hygiene due to exposure to surfaces touched by other air travellers. Always check that your sanitiser has about 60% alcohol since this is more effective. Keep it close to you, and continually apply it every time you realise you have touched several surfaces.

Using sanitisers is one of the most effective ways of keeping your hands’ virus free and away from any pathogen exposure.

As you sanitise your hands, it is still essential to avoid touching your face and eyes. Avoiding contact with your face reduced the virus particles that may be present on your hands. Also, remember to keep washing your hands anytime you see a hand wash area.

Social Distancing

There are always thousands of people in the airport terminal and hundreds that you would be travelling with. Even with markers on the airport on the distances that you need to keep, coming into close quarters with someone else is more common than we may think. Even with this factor, it shouldn’t be hard to keep a reasonable distance level as soon as you are in the terminal.

You can avoid all the risk by ensuring you have a safe distance from anyone else from security and as you board your flight. A six feet distance is always the recommended one. You can choose a less crowded gate before your flight. Just avoid contact as much as possible to reduce the risks and always stay safe.

Conclusion

Safety starts with you, and the actions you take have a major overall outcome. Following the airport’s safety regulations and personal safety can make flights safer and allow more people to get back to travelling without fear of risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other higher risk factors.
